Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. said that it will begin implementing a revised version of its Sustainable Natural Rubber Procurement Policy in September. The modification incorporates the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) policy framework agreed at its second general congress in September 2020 into Yokohama Rubber's procurement policy created in October 2018. The modification demonstrates Yokohama Rubber's commitment to helping to attain a greater level of natural rubber sustainability.
As a participant in the International Rubber Study Group's (IRSG) Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiative (SNR-i) in 2017 and a member of GPSNR since 2018, Yokohama Rubber has been promoting the procurement of sustainable natural rubber through a variety of activities.

Reacting to Yokohama Rubber’s policy revision, GPSNR Platform Director Stefano Savi said: '"Yokohama Rubber's compliance with the GPSNR policy framework reflects their commitment to a fair, equitable and sustainable natural rubber value chain. Since GPSNR finds 50% of the natural rubber demand represented in its membership, the adoption of the policy framework by Yokohama Rubber and other member companies is a step ahead for the industry at large."

Yokohama Rubber's medium-term management strategy for fiscal years 2021–2023, Yokohama Transformation 2023 (YX2023), includes ESG activities based on the concept of "Caring for the Future." Yokohama Rubber will make an effort to help resolve societal concerns through its business activities by adopting ESG efforts under this notion.
