Goodyear SightLine: First Intelligent Tyre Solution For Last-Mile Delivery

Goodyear SightLine, the first tyre intelligence solution for cargo van fleets, was unveiled by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a leader in connected mobility. Starting with cargo vans supporting the field service, construction, and last-mile delivery industries, Goodyear SightLine will assist provide seamless, safe, and reliable movement for all vehicles.

Goodyear SightLine will be offered to Goodyear's original equipment customers as well as rising fleet and mobility providers later this year. Goodyear SightLine is a real-time communication system that employs sensors and cloud-based algorithms to connect with fleet operators. It is now accessible across North America and Europe.

Predicting breakdowns, limiting downtime, and monitoring tyre pressure and wear for increased safety and cost-effective mobility are just a few of the difficulties that drivers and fleet managers face today, and Goodyear's exclusive predictive maintenance technology can help solve this issue.

"Much like smart watches that monitor vitals like heartrates and oxygen levels, Goodyear SightLine's tire intelligence monitors the health of a tire," said Chris Helsel, senior vice president, global operations and chief technology officer. "Goodyear SightLine takes the mystery out of understanding tires and provides proactive mobility insights to communicate when tires need service or replacement."

Through pilot programmes, Goodyear has gathered billions of test miles on tyre solutions driven by Goodyear SightLine, laying the framework for a connected-tyre future in which every tyre delivers intelligence. Goodyear has set a goal for all new products to have tyre intelligence by 2027.

Goodyear SightLine technology will, in the future, not only provide input on the tyre, but also on road conditions, enabling connected, autonomous driving. Integrating Goodyear SightLine technology into a vehicle's control system has been found to reduce stopping distance loss by 30% in preliminary testing.
