Pirelli Starts A Fresh Chapter With World Rally Championship

Pirelli has been the tyre partner for World Rally Championships (WRC) right from the beginning. Pirelli has been present in the Achim Warmbold's Austrian Alpine rally in 1973 all the way up to Sebastien Loeb's 2010 title winning WRC.

When a question of "what Andrea Adamo, Italian team principal of Hyundai Motorsport thinks about the return of Pirelli in WRC ?" was asked, He had a smile on his face while stating that he had no concerns at all and "its pirelli that we are talking about."

He further adds that Pirelli is not like other companies that came in just yesterday, Pirelli knows about rallying and so there is nothing to worry about the return of Pirelli in WRC.

Even though Pirelli has not featured on manufacturing tyres for Rally1 cars in the recent years, the firm has been active in junior WRC and WRC2 runners since 2018.

Pirelli has shown further evidence proving its performance tyres are capable to withstand the beating from rocks, debris, dust and what not in the rally scenario. Pirelli proudly presents its performance offering -'P Zero' which is a high performance tyre offered by the 150-year old company.

It is a fact that the tyres began its life as an original equipment on Lancia's Delta S4. This was arguably the world's fastest rallying supercar which needed a performance tyre that Pirelli decided to create which was named as the 'P Zero'.

Giovanni Tronchetti provera, Senior vice president of Pirelli stated that, technology and passion are the two important key elements that Pirelli has brought into motorsport which has allowed the Italian firm to secure the position of single tyre supplier for the World Rally Championship.

He further adds that the company has supported junior category for many years and now is the perfect time to return as the top class tyre manufacturer for WRC.

Pirelli's head of F1 and car racing Mario Isola talks about picking young drivers and supporting them to reach their goal in the racing sector.

Isola further added that it feels good that the company has returned back to WRC in the year when Ott Tanak who graduated from Pirelli Star Driver Programme has been crowned world champion.

With the belief and confidence that Mario Isola is guiding the company in the right direction, the first of the firm's four-year agreement as sole supplier to the WRC has been agreed.
