Pirelli Launches New Tyre For Classic Cars Like Mini

For owners of the legendary Mini, a new Pirelli Collezione tyre is now available. Pirelli Collezione is a line of tyres created for the world's most iconic cars produced between 1950 and 1980, combining antique styling with cutting-edge technology.

A CLASSIC TYRE WITH ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

Pirelli has reproduced the Cinturato CN54 in 145/70 R12 size, which was first introduced in 1972, for all models of the classic Mini (including those built under licence by Innocenti). This is a radial tyre with an original tread pattern and sidewall, but with modern technology. This features new compounds that provide higher traction and improved road holding on wet roads, ensuring dependability and high safety standards without sacrificing the original design.

Pirelli's engineers employed the same specifications as the original vehicle designers when developing this tyre, in order to fully complement the suspension and chassis settings of the Mini when it was new. Original materials and tyre designs from the Pirelli Foundation archives in Milan were utilised to produce this.

PIRELLI AND MINI

Pirelli began developing a Cinturato tyre for the Mini in 1964, with the tread pattern 367F. The Mini's popularity spread to Italy a year later, and Innocenti was granted a licence to make the automobiles in its Lambrate factory outside Milan, where manufacturing lasted until 1975. Pirelli created tyres for the Mini 90 in the 145/70 SR12 size and the Mini 120 in the 155/70 SR12 size in 1976.

Pirelli created a unique ‘wide series' of radial tyres with a wider tread pattern and lower sidewalls than regular rubber for sports variants of the automobile, such as the Innocenti Turbo De Tomaso. Pirelli created the P3 city car tyre in the 1980s, which was used on the whole Mini line, including the Red Flame, Check Mate, Studio 2, and Piccadilly special editions.

Pirelli homologated the Eufori@ Run Flat tyre for the new Mini in 2000, a product that was synonymous with reliability since it could drive for 150 kilometres at a maximum speed of 80kph even when entirely flat, thanks to a particular structure capable of supporting the entire car's weight.
