The FIA has confirmed that Pirelli Will have 30 days in their hands to test the 18-inch tyres this year. Pirelli stated that the new generation Formula 1 cars will arrive in 2022, however, the 13-inch currently used in Formula one will be replaced with 18-inch tyres.
The FIA has agreed with the proposal from all the formula 1 teams to increase the number of testing days up to 25 to 30 days for Pirelli and the racing teams
Pirelli has been putting sweat and tears to construct new tyre compounds that will provide the maximum performance. Pirelli's primary goal is to create tyres that the Formula one cars require to get better output. As a result of their hard work and efforts to build better tyres, Pirelli has been provided with extra time for testing.
Pirelli had started testing the new compounds during 2019 and 2020 but due to the unfortunate global-pandemic, The testing came to a complete pause, and the new regulations were also delayed until 2022.

The challenges presented by COVID-19 surrounding the 2020 season meant that Pirelli could not conduct the tests as per their requirements, the company’s Chief Mario Isola said it was a “miracle” that a season, in full, happened at all.
“My biggest worry at the beginning was how to manage the Covid situation,” said Isola.
“I am not talking about production, how to deliver tyres, but how to manage the situation on track because the virus was something completely unknown.
“So we had some suggestions from different people, medical doctors and other people saying you have to use masks, you have to keep social distancing.

“But then, you know how difficult it can be to keep social distancing in an activity like the one we are doing, or in the fitting area or in our offices – everywhere.
“We had a lot of question marks. Is it enough? Should we do something different? How can we test our people because during the first lockdown, for example, in Italy, the situation was so complicated that we didn’t have a lot of Covid tests available and all of those tests were just dedicated for the emergency system, the hospitals and so on?
“It was not possible at the beginning to make a plan, test our people before development and so on. So it was really a bit of a nightmare at the beginning.
“If you think back to March, it is sort of a miracle [that we had a full season].”
