Pirelli has been confirmed the United Nations' Global Compact LEAD, making it the only company in the Automobiles & Parts industry to receive this honour. The Global Compact LEAD, which is made up of 37 firms this year, brings together the organisations around the world that are most committed to implementing the United Nations' Ten Principles of the Global Compact.
Marco Tronchetti Provera, CEO and Executive Vice Chairman of Pirelli stated: "For Pirelli industry means innovation and that means accelerating change for the benefit of all and to safeguard the environment. The confirmation of Pirelli and its inclusion in the Global Compact LEAD of the United nations is a reason to be proud and is recognition of our constant efforts to achieve challenging goals through actions that bring concrete results".

More than ever before, the world needs businesses of all sizes — like the ones announced as LEAD today — that continuously work to improve their sustainability performance and take action to build a better world."
The United Nations' Global Compact is the world's largest company sustainability initiative: to be considered "LEAD," a company must participate in at least two Global Compact "Action Platforms," which bring together companies, local networks, academics, civil society, and governments to address complex sustainability issues and deliver innovation in support of global goals. In addition, members must report on their own progress in an annual sustainability report that outlines the outcomes of applying the Ten Principles.
Belonging to the United Nations Global Compact, which Pirelli joined in 2004, demonstrates a company's belief that effective solutions require a holistic approach to development, which is the result of companies and stakeholders working together at a global level to combine economic, social, and environmental capital.
