Leading tyre manufacturer, Nokian Tyres has announced that the company's Intuitu smart tyre technology is now equipped in agricultural tyres too. This technology will roll-out in the manufacturer's own turf -Finland.
The Intuitu smart tyre technology basically works with sensors installed and the system is designed to update users on tyre condition via a mobile app.
Matthew Crocker, product manager at Nokian Tyres stated that, "Fleet managers in particular were excited about the prospect of having vital tire information and alarms available with a minimal need for configuration.
He added that, “Premium tractor tyres are an investment you want to look after.”
According to Nokian Tyres, Once the product is purchased from the manufacturer, 'Smart tyres' are registered with the Intuitu application. once its registered, data on tyre position, pressure and temperature is produced for all vehicles fitted with smart tyres.

Nokian tyres states that in the app, Fleet owners can invite multiple vehicles and drivers as required. This means that the driver will be updated and would get alerts about the vehicle currently in use. The fleet manager will get information regarding tyres and machinery which will help them in scheduling service and keeping vehicles in good condition.
Crocker added that, "Knowing how your tyres are doing helps you save on fuel costs and improves working safety but the digital dimension of the tyres has the potential to be much more, and we have many great ideas in the pipeline." He highlighted that, for example, tread depth measurement and integration of Nokian’s system with OEM machines’ own operating software is under development.
