Country's leading tyre manufacturer, JK tyre has suspended operations at the Mysore facility as more than 70 employees have been tested COVID-19 positive within just a week's time.
The company has partnered with Apollo BGS and JSS hospital in Mysore to test all its employees which is a total of around 6,500 members.
A medical professional stated that they are trying their best since a week to carry out rapid tests on the company premises. Until now, more than 70 employees have been tested positive with COVID-19 virus.
D.K. Lingaraju, Joint Director of District Industries Centre (DIC), Mysore said that the tyre manufacturer has tied up with private hospitals and has suspended its manufacturing operations in all the three branches in Mysore for three days.
Most of the employees who were tested positive were asymptomatic and as per the governments's regulations, were advised to be in home quarantine. The private hospitals have already arranged a hotel in the city so as to isolate the patients needing medical care.

JK tyre has been advising their employees to use their medical insurance as per the guidelines that was mentioned by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) which has ensured that medical expenses will be carried out under the policies.
It was further mentioned by the company that the family members will also go under tests and primary contacts will also be screened.
The company premises is sealed down for three days and will be sanitised completely. As per the current situation, guidelines from the Union Ministry of health and Family Welfare, there is no requirement for shutting down the industry for indefinite period.
It was further mentioned that “Instead of closing the factories for many days, the infected production area will be sealed down for two to three days and sanitised while the employees working in the unit will be quarantined."
