Hankook Tire, a global leader in the tyre industry, is installing rally-ready Sorento PHEVs with Hankook tyres for this year's Rebelle Rally, the world's first women's off-road navigation competition raid in the United States. The Kia rally vehicles are equipped with Hankook Dynapro AT2 all-terrain tyres.
Rebelle Rally was founded in 2015 and traverses more than 1,500 metres of terrain across the Nevada and California deserts in the United States. The rally is unique and it is not a race for speed. No navigational electronics are permitted, and participant vehicles must overcome difficult hurdles while travelling off the beaten path. Starting on October 7, fifty-two woman teams will compete in a combination of crossovers, SUVs, and pickups for ten days.

With the high-end Hankook Dynapro AT2 tyres, Hankook Tire is backing Kia's two Sorento PHEVs competing in the rally, as well as a Sorento EX employed as a media car. The Dynapro AT2 is an all-terrain tyre with a multi-directional tread design that provides better grip in wet, snow, and off-road conditions while also lowering road noise and improving ride comfort. It has a longer tread life due to a broader, more sophisticated footprint that distributes stress more evenly and uniformly.

Alyssa Roenigk of ESPN will drive, while Sabrina Howells will take the passenger seat and be in charge of navigation. The second team will be led by skilled driver Verena Mei, who will be assisted by seasoned navigator Tana White. The Sorento rally vehicles will include the Hankook Tire logo on the rear passenger windows and front bumpers, as Hankook Tire is Kia's tyre sponsor. Hankook Tire is supplying competition tyres for the Rebelle Rally for the first time.
