Goodyear has announced a Sustainable Reality Survey, which invites European transport and logistics industries to submit their thoughts on how to make transportation more sustainable.
Both authorities and industry players are concerned about climate change and environmental sustainability. The European Green Deal was launched in 2019 with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation by 90% compared to 1990 levels. The EU Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, which includes 82 initiatives over the next four years, will be launched in 2020. The approach aims to help the transportation ecosystem get green and digital while also becoming more resilient to future challenges.
In total, transportation is responsible for 25% of Europe's greenhouse gas emissions1. According to VECTO, CO2 emissions from new heavy-truck trucks are expected to drop by 15% in 2025 and 30% by 2030.

Customers are inserting more "environmental minded" requirements in their RFQs, and end-consumers want to buy more from companies that care about the environment, in addition to the regulatory agenda's acceleration. The transition to greener mobility while remaining competitive and ensuring on-time delivery requires a clear plan and smart measures in the everyday operations of commercial fleets.
The Sustainable Reality Survey, which Goodyear launched, is a straightforward inquiry into what transportation partners are doing now and in the future to decrease their carbon footprint. Its goal is to expose what truck fleets and transportation businesses are accomplishing in terms of sustainability – as well as the commercial roadblocks that they face on a daily basis. There is no greenwashing here; instead, a look at sustainability in action. Goodyear will plant a tree in honour of each fleet respondent who completes the survey in partnership with Tree-Nation, a non-profit organisation that coordinates reforestation efforts worldwide through a unique platform.
