Dunlop In For Title Fight As EWC Season Comes To An End

VRD Igol Experiences, a Dunlop partner team, is competing for the first time in the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) this weekend, as one of 13 Dunlop-supported teams competing in the 6 Hours of Most in the Czech Republic.

The top category of motorcycle endurance racing wraps up its season on Saturday with its first-ever visit to Autodrom Most for a six-hour race, following the Bol d'Or 24-hour race last month. VRD Igol Experiences, a Yamaha-supported independent team, finished second in the championship after finishing third in the Bol d'Or on Dunlop tyres. Only the riders Florian Alt, Florian Marino, and Nico Terol can beat the current championship leaders to the 2021 title.

On Dunlop tyres, the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and Webike SRC Kawasaki France Trickstar will be among the teams contending for the overall victory. Moto Ain, like fellow independent Yamaha outfits Wojcik Racing Team and Maco Racing, will be seeking for a great result after being a runner up last time, with a fresh rider lineup of Randy de Puniet, Loris Baz, and Corentin Perolari.

In the ever-competitive Superstock class, No Limits Motor Team is best placed to fight for second in the final standings. At the Bol d'Or, the Italian team placed third in class and took home the Dunlop Independent Trophy.

A new challenge for all

As a new track on the EWC calendar, the testing and practice sessions ahead of Saturday's race will be even more important than usual. David Auerbacher, Dunlop's EWC Event Leader, explains.

"With 21 corners over 4.2km, the Most circuit is a physically demanding lap for the riders and one that is unfamiliar to most of the paddock. We have our comprehensive range of KR slicks and development tyres to cover a wide range of riding styles and conditions, so we’re confident that each and every Dunlop team will have the tyres they need to unlock the maximum performance from their bike.

"It's a new challenge for everyone but we're looking forward to ending a highly competitive EWC season on a high. Several of our partner teams in both classes are in contention for a win, and we've got our fingers crossed for VRD Igol Experiences who are looking for their first world championship title, as well as Moto Ain who have an exciting new rider lineup."

Free practice and qualifying will take place throughout Thursday, with five hours of on-track action scheduled. The six-hour race will get underway at 11:00 local time on Saturday, 9 October.
