Check Out How Dunlop Gets A Double Win In EWC Season Finale

The FIM Endurance World Championship EWC 2021 made its maiden visit to Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic where Dunlop teams won both classes in a thrilling six-hour duel.

Ilya Mikhalchik (BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team) was the fastest rider at the start. Mikhalchik had gone from fourth to first in a remarkable push by the 20-minute mark, with Gino Rea (Wojik Racing Team Yamaha) following in his tyre tracks. With a solid move under braking, Rea made it a Dunlop one-two. During much of the exhilarating first hour, the top five were covered in less than four seconds.

Marginal gains were vital in such a close battle. Markus Reiterberger received the BMW M1000RR from Mikhalchik. On his out lap, he was able to gain 1.8 seconds. Heat Control Technology is used in Dunlop's tyres, which has an innovative tread architecture with differing cap (outer) and base (lower) compounds, and it was evident that the rapid warm-up qualities on a cold autumn day were helping to develop an advantage after each tyre change. The BMW trio, along with teammate Kenny Foray, were able to extend their lead and take a thrilling victory.

This was a landmark achievement for BMW. It was their first FIM Endurance World Championship EWC victory. With wins in road racing, Dunlop has a lot of expertise with the M1000RR. On Dunlop's own test bike, Reiterberger and Foray won the non-championship Spa 6h in August.

Throughout the six-hour race, the Webike SRC Kawasaki France Trickstar remained in the top four. The Kawasaki ZX-10R joined the BMW M1000RR and Yamaha R1 as Dunlop-equipped bikes in the top four of the championship, demonstrating the adaptability of the Dunlop line.

David Auerbacher, Dunlop Event Leader, said: "It's brilliant to conclude a packed EWC season with a double win. BMW Motorrad has performed strongly all year and deserves their inaugural win. In Superstock, No Limits had a perfectly executed race. We used standard Dunlop KR slicks and were pleased to contribute to the wins with a consistent, durable, performing product range that was very suited to the demanding Most circuit."
