Formula one has confirmed that the changes that were made to the the kerb at Silverstone's Chapel curve will be altered back as many teams had reported tyre failures during the 2020 British Grand Prix. The change is said to take place before the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.
The decision came after three teams suffered tyre failures in the race weekend at Silverstone that is during the British Grand Prix.
Formula one driver of Mercedes team, Lewis Hamilton had a close call since he had to limp his car on three wheels to the finish line as his front left tyre had a puncture. McLaren's Carlos Sainz and Valterri Bottas of Mercedes had similar tyre failures as both their front-left tyres had failed resulting in them losing points.
Pirelli stated that the tyre failures were caused due to extreme pressure which was placed upon the tyres. Many drivers also discovered cuts to their tyres once an investigation was launched after the race.

There were debris and dirt which was entering the tracks, near the Maggotts and Becketts section since the kerb had been removed for the race this year. It is believed that the debris which entered the track had caused the cuts on the tyres.
Mario Isola, Pirelli's tyre chiefs had stated on the situation - “Probably some of the cuts that we found on Friday were caused by that and by the fact that some debris was trapped in the kerb obviously some cuts on the tyre."
He added that “They are working around that, it’s a good action, it’s a good idea to have this small modification that is helping the situation.
Isola mentioned that “Cuts have been a topic of the week, I have to say, because of the fact that in some corners the cars are running wider, going somewhere into run-off areas and we had some parts of the circuit where the gravel was coming on,”
He further added that “When the tyre is hot it is very soft so that’s why we had some cuts on tyres.”
