Bridgestone struck an agreement with AL Nasr Automotive Manufacturing, along with its long-time local partner Nile Projects & Trading, to complete the test phase of new electric vehicles in Egypt. The trial operating plan will include Cairo and Alexandria, with a maximum of 13 electric vehicles with a range of 30,000 kilometres being tested annually for public test drives.
Bridgestone will provide tyres, while Nile Projects & Trading subsidiary Fit and Fix Network will support the trial test phase's success by ensuring the electric vehicles' durability and providing high service quality. It also intends to resurrect Nasr's national pride brand, support the Egyptian government's efforts to make Egypt a hub for electric vehicles in North Africa, and encourage more people to take safe road journeys.
Nile Projects' Fit and Fix network, an Egypt-based vehicle service company, will provide a wide range of expert automotive services for the EVs, which will be available through its more than 40 outlets to ensure safe and comfortable driving. Bridgestone's goal to drive the industry toward sustainability by cutting fuel usage and reducing carbon emissions is reflected in this relationship.
Stefano Sanchini, Regional Managing Director, Bridgestone MEA, said: “We are excited to be working in this project with our partners Nile Projects & Trading and AL Nasr in providing quality tyres for their trial test phase of electric vehicles. This is a step we are taking to support safe and secure mobility while contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society. This signifies our commitment to developing mobility solutions and innovations that are safe and sustainable.”
