Yokohama India Keeps Delhi Dogs Warm During Winters

Yokohama India Pvt. Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., has donated around 190 factory tyres, cut, shaped and treated to form dog beds to Neighbourhood Woof - an NGO, in order to provide durable and comfortable beds for stray dogs in the shelter.

Neighbourhood Woof in an NGO for dogs that was started by Ayesha Christina. The NGO works to help local stray dogs which have gotten injured or had an accident and also runs sterilization and vaccination programs.

“For 6 years we struggled to find a sustainable winter arrangement for our dogs that could be washed, disinfected and re-used. Thanks to Yokohama for giving us Factory scrap for re-use” said Ayesha.

The tyres as explained by Ayesha will provide the dogs a comfortable bed that can be easily washed and cleaned to maintain proper hygiene within the NGO. Its a really innovative way to reuse old tyres and many other NGOs that house dogs can think of such solutions to accommodate animals in their shelters. The rubber used in tyres is extremely durable, does not rot and can easily be treated and cleaned for several different options for reuse. Tyre furniture, dog beds, playground obstacles are just a few different ways that old tyres can be put to a lot of good use.

“The India plant of Yokohama is one of the lowest scrap ratio plants of the Yokohama Group. We follow very stringent quality control processes and tyres which do not meet our standards are scrapped. When approached by Neighbourhood Woof, we instantly knew that this would be one of the best possible Re-Use of the factory scrap – to comfort a Man’s Best Friend in the chilling winter of Delhi” said Harshwardhan Honmode - Director Marketing at Yokohama India.
