Michelin has decided to transfer its stud-less snow tyres to the Monza Rally. The Monzo rally will put the curtain down for the 2020 WRC season with the 241.37 kilometres long rally. Although the 2020 WRC season is coming to an end, there is a necessity for the snow tyres since the circuit which is located in the Bergamo Alps could see the presence of snow on the roads.
Michelin has stated that they are not looking to surprise the WRC teams with the snow tyres for the Monza Rally and they want the teams to know what is coming in the near future and what to expect. As the official tyre supplier for WRC this reason, the firm will bring an extra supply of compounds to the Monza Rally.
Along with the soft and hard tyre compounds, well of course with the rain tyres too, a batch of stud-less snow tyres will be added which is identical to those used in Monte Carlo.

Arnaud remy, responsible for Michelin’s project in rallies, has assured in this regard: "We have explained to the FIA the concerns that the teams have in relation to Saturday’s sections north of Bergamo. With this in mind, we will bring snow tyres for the event. These rubbers will be studless snow tyres. They may go from the Michelin factory in Clermont-Ferrando to Monza and back to the factory without leaving the truck, but it is our last event and we don’t want to take any chances. It does not matter if we use them or not, the key is to have them there so that they are an option".
WRC Promoter managing director Jona Siebel said the rally would provide an exciting challenge for competitors.
“As the final round of the championship, there’s a strong chance both the drivers’ and manufacturers’ WRC titles could go right down to the wire on Monza’s roads.
“The WRC prides itself on rewarding rallying’s best all-round driver across multiple terrains and varied conditions. This type of rally is rare in our championship but will provide a thrilling finale to an unpredictable year,” he added.
