Everyone loves snow, except for the people who actually live on a terrain where snow is expected to fall every winter season. It's a tough lifestyle and with the pandemic, it just got even tougher. One example of a tough "snow situation" would be driving on it. Without proper tyre-chains and snow tyres, you are 10 times more likely to meet with an accident. So think again about living in a place that expects snow!
However, counting this year and last year that is 2020, people have not been going outside driving. This is because of the pandemic and the bad weather. Bryan Ellison, Owner of West Valley Collision Repair stated in this regard that, “We do see a lot of additional accidents once it snows. Probably going to be a little bit worse because a lot of people haven’t been driving because of the pandemic.”
In addition to not driving for quite some time, far fewer people have actually equipped their vehicle with snow tyres this year because of the pandemic.
“This year you’ve had so many factors impacting that,” Davon Julius, the Manager of the Big O Tires location on South Temple says, “Less people traveling because of the COVID, could cause bigger accidents”

Julius stated that the sales of winter weather tyres are about 20-25% less than usual in 2021. He says that he is more concerned about the lack of tyre sales since it might increase the probability of accidents.
“Everybody thinks about the aspect of going” he says, “they can go better when they have a snow tyre on but for me it's all about stopping your vehicle at a distance that is so much better.”
Bryan Ellison added that "We own a detail shop as well” sarcastically trying to point out that fender bender repairs are more common this time of the year and that they get calls to fix dents so often.
“A lot of these accidents will not have high impact damages because they are going a little slower” Ellison says, “But those real small ones people say, well it could happen again in the winter so I’m going to wait until summer to get it fixed."

So in conclusion, snow tyres are a must to keep you and your loved ones safe. Snow might look cool, but remember that it is not safe to drive on it without equipping your vehicle with snow tyres.
