Tyres On The Tata Nexon EV: All You Need To Know

The Nexon EV looks stunning with TATA Motors launching its first personal electric vehicle and its first electric SUV in India. It is confirmed that the Nexon EV will be getting the 16-inch MRF Wanderer Street as an OEM tyre with maybe a few other options in line that are yet to be revealed. The size for the tyre will be 215/16 R16 with a speed rating "H" and a load index of "95." Tata also claims that these tyres are low resistance however we found no indication/marker on the tyres that provided a justification for these claims.

Nexon EV tyres

The MRF Wanderer series consists of all-weather tyres with variants that are specifically customized for different SUVs in India. The Wanderer Street is one of the variants of the MRF Wanderer series which is also used on 16 other SUVs including the likes of the Creta, XUV 300, Innova Crysta, KIA SELTOS, the Compass Sport and the MG HECTOR.

The popular SUV tyre come with the following features:

1. A computer generated tread-block sequence and structure profile, along with cut-resistant tread compounds that make sure that you get superior performance on rough / off-road conditions. Multi- layered reinforced steel belt package with N-66 ply to enable all terrain capability.

Other variants of the MRF Wanderer series include The Wanderer Sport, Wanderer A/T and the Wanderer S/L.

More About The EV

Nexon EV

The Nexon EV will be available in three variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. It is confirmed that the top-spec version of the EV will get features like an electric sunroof, leatherette seats, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, automatic climate control, and a seven-inch touchscreen display.

The Nexon EV also comes with a five-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests, with additional features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and corner stability control.

The EV will be powered by a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor that will provide 127bhp and 245Nm of peak torque. The electric motor will be receiving its juice from a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion, liquid-cooled battery pack that offers an ARAI-certified range of 312km. The vehicle also comes with an IP67 certification for dust and water resistance in one-meter of water.

The electric SUV is also accompanied by a 3.3kW bundled charger that can charge the battery pack from 20-100 percent in eight hours, while a 25kW fast chargers installed in select tata dealerships will charge the battery from 0-80 percent in 60 minutes. These fast chargers will be installed in the 22 Indian cities where the Nexon EV will be sold. The compact electric SUV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 15-17 lakhs (ex-showroom).
