Buying second hand tyres is definitely a tough task as there are lots of details that has to be inspected correctly to keep yourself and the vehicle safe.
To find good set of tyres will require you to know some basics. To make buying second hand tyres a breeze, we have put together some details which must be read before purchasing used tyres.
- Check the surface of the tyre:
The first step to consider is to check the inside and outside of the tyre. If there are bumps or cuts in lots of places, then it means that the tyre is not good for purchase as it indicates damage. - Tread depth:
The best way to check for tread depth is by using a coin. This is a simple test which can be conducted by using a one rupee coin. To check for tread, place the one Rupee coin vertically on the surface of the tyre and see whether the number 1 seen on the coin is partially visible or not visible. If the number one on coin is visible completely then it means that the tyre has reached almost its end of life and looking for further damages on the tyre is just not worth the time and effort. If the number 1 on the coin is partially visible, then it means that the tyre can be used for some more thousand kilometers. - Exposed chords:
The tyres have chords in it and they are meant to keep the structure of the tyre stable for better performance. If you see chords poking out then it means that the tyre cannot be used further. There are many reasons for the chords to become exposed. The reasons for the exposed chords to appear are due to a bent tyre, improper air pressure in the tyres and mismatch alignment.

Make sure to run your hand on the sidewall of the tyre to see for any bumps or irregularities because this means that the tyre has been used badly and needs to be recycled. The steel belts maintain the structure of the tyre and keeps it from wobbling. - Punctures:
Tyres with lots of punctures are not safe to use so, check the inner side of the tyre to see if there are patches. If you see many patches then it means that the tyre cannot handle air pressure and there are chances that the tyre could get damaged again. It is also not safe for you to drive on such tyres.
These are the things that one must look out more while considering to buy second-hand tyres.
