Michelin Introduces X AGVEV Engineered To Suit AGV Requirements

Michelin has launched the new MICHELIN X AGVEV, the first tire specifically designed for automatic guided vehicles (AGV) operating in ports.Port operators now have access to a tyre engineered to match their AGV requirements in terms of performance, reliability, productivity, and safety thanks to the MICHELIN X AGVEV. It's also the first time a port tyre has been labelled as an EV tyre, suggesting that its low rolling resistance helps to reduce machine emissions and extend battery life in electric vehicles.

Because they optimise operations by assuring high levels of efficiency and safety requirements, AGVs are becoming increasingly widespread in ports. While these machines are now in use in a number of ports around Asia, Europe, and North America, there were no tyres particularly built for them until now.

THE MICHELIN X AGVEV TYRE’S MAIN FEATURES INCLUDE:

Smooth running and optimal reliability: the tyre has been designed to ensure long lasting reliability due to its damage resistant design and slick tread pattern.

Robustness: the tyre’s construction has been optimized to cope with high vehicle and load weights.

Very low rolling resistance to save energy: as most AGVs are now electric, special care has been taken to ensure minimal energy consumption, making it the perfect fit for electric vehicles.

TPMS-ready: the tyre comes with a specific patch inside that allows for easy fixing of the Michelin TPMS sensor that monitors pressure and temperature in real-time. This is a peace of mind solution for driverless vehicles where there is no operator to perform regular visual checks of the tyres.
