- Premium range for small & mid size cars
- Better grip levels & tyre life than ever before
- Replaces the older XM2 range
Michelin has been at the forefront of bringing in the latest tyre technologies for the Indian masses. The good old Energy XM2 series was a testimony to this fact, ticking all the right boxes in terms of grip levels, tyre life and low rolling resistance. And now, the company has upped the ante further, replacing the XM2 with the new XM2+. Read our review here.
The Michelin Energy XM2+ is available for both small and mid-size passenger cars with prices starting at Rs 5090 - this is marginally more than the older tyre model. The XM2+ gets a new full-silica rubber compound and the company claims, this new tyre stops as much as 2.4 meters shorter on wet roads as compared to a premium competitor tyre. This is when both the tyres in question are new.
What's even more interesting is the fact that as per tests conducted by Applus IDIADA India, the Michelin Energy XM2+ stops 3.3 meters shorter in
Apart from the added grip levels, the Michelin Energy XM2+ also offers longer mileage, as much by 29% according to the tests conducted in comparison to the rival tyre. The reason for this boils down to the new rubber formulation with strong link of filler-filler molecular bonds. Michelin says this minimizes the wear rate of the tyre. Further, the company's Alternate Bridge Technology leads to lesser shuffling in tread block and hence resulting in lower wear.
Last but not the least, the Michelin XM2+ continues to get the 'Green X' mark on the side wall and a green dotted line on the tread. This indicates fuel savings that a car owner will enjoy during the usage period of the product. The claims seem to be very impressive and we can't wait to experience the improvements first hand later this month. Stay tuned!
