The fuel-cell-powered Green GT H24 prototype will execute a parade lap before the race's start, wearing the Michelin demonstrateur 46 tyre for the first time this year at Le Mans. It is the first race tyre to be able to claim that 46 percent of the ingredients it contains are sustainable, as announced earlier this year at the Movin'On international sustainable mobility summit in June.
The Michelin demonstrateur 46 tyre stands out as an eloquent illustration of the company's progress in the field of sustainable and high-tech materials, with the company successfully combining a high proportion of sustainable materials with very high performance, a circle that is often thought impossible to square.
By increasing the amount of natural rubber and adding carbon black recovered from end-of-life tyres, such a high proportion of sustainable resources was attained. Everyday items like orange and lemon peel, sunflower oil, resin oil, and pine resin, as well as recovered scrap steel, are among the other bio-sourced or recycled sustainable elements used in this innovative tyre.

The ‘démonstrateur 46' tyre is a tangible example of Michelin's All Sustainable plan, which calls for all Michelin tyres to be constructed entirely of sustainable materials by 2050, with an interim goal of 40% sustainable content by 2030. Michelin uses eco-design techniques to reduce the environmental impact of its tyres at every stage of their lifecycle, in addition to employing sustainable materials in their production.
