Michelin And Maxion Presents A Flexible Wheel

Michelin and Maxion wheel has brought in a new deal that can protect the tyres and wheel from damage known popularly as the Michelin Acorus.

Michelin was keen in creating tyres that could minimize tyre damage or even eliminate the problem of tyre damage after the customers mentioned it to the manufacturer. Michelin partnered with Maxion wheels in creating a new technology that can reduce or eliminate tyre damage.

The amount of money that people spend to replace their rims after it gets damaged is fascinating in India. The damage is caused due to prevailing road conditions that exist in the country.

Wheel damage and tyre bursts happen when the tyres hit an edge of a curb or a pothole at a speed that the tyre system cannot sustain. What happens with the tyres is interesting even though they sadly cause loss of money in replacing. The tyre is usually pressed between the edge of the rim of a wheel which will in most cases cut through the tyre and perhaps even cause damage to the rim and wheel as well.

Michelin and Maxion has come up with a brilliant solution. The tyres and wheel look similar to a classic wheel but is rigid and offers support that is needed for the car tyres to function. The interior and the exterior of the wheel well has two flexible flanges which keeps the tyre and the rim from coming into contact.

Basically, when the tyres hit a pot hole, the tyre pressure forces the flanges in an upward direction into the rim rather than the tyre itself. This ensures that the tyre are safe from shredding and also the rim is safe from damage. It is a wrap-around effect where the tyre does not push directly into the rim.

There are other benefits too. Since the tyre flexes around the rim portion, the pressure is not anymore distributed to the suspension components which will provide a smoother ride quality.

Also there is no need to buy special tyres for equipping with Michelin Acorus. It can be used on any tyre that fits the system. The tyre system is available for all vehicles ranging from sedans to buses.

Michelin has been around 130 years since the beginning of modern car wheel which came into production. They are in fore-front when it comes to tyre research and production. The manufacturer has been consistent in providing new technologies such as the Acorus.

Maxion wheels have also been in the manufacturing of steel and aluminium wheels for cars, commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment and military grade tyres for over a 100 years now.

So it absolutely makes sense in why the two leading manufacturers have teamed-up to produce such an interesting and efficient design.
