Michelin has purchased 100% of Allopneus SAS, the French leader in online tyre sales and fitting for private persons. Michelin has owned 40% of the stock of the company, which was created in 2004 by the Blaise family, since 2015.
Michelin consolidates its e-commerce footprint in France with this acquisition. From online information seeking and tyre-fitting, the Group aspires to expand its understanding of customer behaviour and the purchasing process in order to continue to provide the best possible experience.
One of the structural trends in the tyre market is the growth of e-commerce. In the weeks leading up to the purchase of new tyres, 2 out of 3 motorists have turned to the internet for information. Today, 15% of these people make their purchases online, a trend that is projected to continue in the coming years.
