Hankook Tire, a global leader in the tyre industry, has released its 2020/21 ESG Report, which details the company's sustainable management actions and achievements in 2020, as well as its medium- to long-term ESG strategies.
The ESG report has been published by Hankook Tire since 2010, with the 2020/21 edition being the 12th. Responsible governance, integrated environmental management, climate change response, community involvement and development, transparency and business ethics, employee value creation, employee safety and health management, and win-win partnership in the supply chain are among the report's eight major ESG focus points. The report's highlight section discusses Hankook Tire's significant events in 2020, as well as the goals and strategies for 2030 of the ESG committee's eight specialised subcommittees.
It all started more than a decade ago when Hankook Tire launched a CSR organisation. The company established a CSR Strategy Committee made up of top management and a Steering Committee made up of lower-level employees in 2009. The company established an EHS integrated management system the next year as the foundation for supporting company-wide social contribution activities. The CSR Committee was renamed the ESG Committee in 2021, and it underwent a restructuring to improve its ESG management.

In 2018, Hankook Tire increased the pace of its ESG management by implementing sustainable natural rubber policies and making E-Circle announcements. The corporation has been communicating its vision of sustainability with executives and employees and enhancing its ESG management through eight subcommittees in each field of competence. The organisation is carrying out a number of actions to create a beneficial impact on society by establishing challenging goals and engaging with stakeholders.

Hankook Tire's charitable initiatives are particularly focused on mobility, which is at the heart of the company. For example, its Car Sharing Project, which began in 2008, attempts to assist social welfare institutions around the country with transportation issues. Every year, Hankook Tire contributes vehicles to selected universities, bringing the total number of vehicles donated over 14 years to around 630 by 2021.
Hankook Tire has been acknowledged as a leader in sustainable management as a result of these activities. From 2011 through 2020, the company has been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World for five years in a row, starting with its initial inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices in 2011. The company is particularly well-known for its contributions to the community and supply chain management.
