Hamilton Wins British Grand Prix On Three Wheels

The British Grand Prix was one of those legendary races which was a proof that F1 is not all about just driving since it involves the tough conditions under which the driver has to go through.

Lewis Hamilton stated that his "heart had nearly stopped" after one of the tyres got a puncture in the final lap of the race. Hamilton won the British Grand Prix despite the puncture which put him under the spot light.

Valtteri Bottas also got a puncture with only three laps to go which gave a window for the Max Verstappen of the red bull team to consider a pit stop to change into new set of soft tyres since this will allow him to gain fastest lap bonus points.

This resulted in Hamilton getting a lead of 32 seconds while entering the last lap which is when the unfortunate left-front tyre puncture took place while exiting Luffield.

Hamilton had to move slowly on three tyres which we would like to call a "Limp motion" since it was like the car was in limp mode! Eventually Hamilton was able to cross the line with 5.8 seconds lead from Max Verstappen which resulted in Hamilton gaining a spectacular Seventh British Grand Prix win.

Hamilton said after his legendary victory, "Up until that last lap, everything was relatively smooth sailing. The tyres felt great. Valtteri was really pushing incredibly hard, and I was doing some management of that tyre and he looked like he wasn't doing any."

He added "When I heard that his tyre went I was just looking at mine and everything seemed fine. The car was still turning. No problem. So I was thinking maybe it's okay. Those last few laps, I started to back off and then down the straight, it just deflated. I just noticed the shape just shift a little bit."

He further added "That was definitely a heart-in-the-mouth kind of feeling, because I wasn't quite sure if it had gone down until I hit the brakes, and you could see the tyre was falling off the rim."

It was indeed a legendary race, Lewis Hamilton managed to reach the finish line despite the puncture. It was surely because of luck and pure experience that led him to the victory lane in the most nerve wrecking way for both the driver and his team. "Best of luck to Lewis Hamilton for your future race events," cheers!
