Hamilton Asks F1 Bosses To Rethink About The Red Flag Rule

Formula One driver, Lewis Hamilton has asked the Formula one Bosses to rethink about the use of red flags because many drivers feel that it is unfair to the work that the teams and drivers have put forth.

The red flags which came out at the Italian Grand Prix after Charles Leclerc crashed his car at Monza's Parabolica along with the appearance of the safety car made the viewers sit on the edge of their seats. The penalty of 10 second for Lewis Hamilton helped Pierre Gasly get a podium finish.

The problem that most of the F1 drivers state is that they are not able to keep their pace since their rivals are able to consider fitting fresh tyres that can give them better traction than the ones who are on the track.

First ever Tuscan Grand Prix held at Mugello, saw the red flags coming out twice to stop the race that is firstly after a crash of multiple cars in the straight during the Safety Car restart and later when Lance Stroll had his Racing Point car out of shape at Arrabbiata 2.

Hamilton says that he accepts the red flag regulation which can make races more exciting at a time where he is close to attaining the seventh World Championship title, but warned the FIA not to only consider one element of the F1 race.

“I know the fans loved the last race [in Monza] with the restart and everything. So even if there is a piece of paper on the track, it seems they'll pull out the red flag and do a fresh start," he said after the Tuscan Grand Prix.

"I can understand why and that it is exciting. Ultimately, these races can get boring when everyone streams out and there's such big gaps between everyone and so this does bring it back it in.

"They do it in NASCAR - they put out the yellow flag all the time and safety cars, whatever, all the time to keep the race exciting, but they definitely need to take into account the safety aspect because [the Tuscan Grand Prix] wasn't particularly safe with the restart.

"I could almost see that coming. I'm sure they will learn from it and we will move together, the sport together."
