Goodyear: Fleet Tracker Device Collects Data Of Tyre Efficiency

Tyre manufacturing companies have always been looking out for new technologies to enhance the performance of the the fleet services. Goodyear which is one of the leading tyre manufacturing company has launched a fleet tracker application which enables fleets to manage all of there assets such as their trailers and rigs.

The company states that it is a smart application that provides information about the mileage of tyres and data on tread levels which help in efficient and effective functioning. These analysis and data assists the fleet owners to determine when to replace the tyres and plan tyre maintenance during the operations.

Goodyear says that the device will help the fleets to conduct their operations more sustainably and in optimum condition.

André Weisz, managing director of Goodyear Proactive Solutions EMEA, explains that this solution facilitates the tracing of vehicles or assets located in remote locations. The devise is battery-powered and can be installed in any type of vehicle. It is also said to manage the trailers particularly. The device sends a GPS signal that allows the fleet managers and service providers to improve the tracing of vehicles while they are at function or in operation. Interestingly, the device locates trailers parked for a longer time even at a far away location.

This tracking solution has an internal memory to store about 55,000 records. It transfers the data to the cloud using mobile networks which is efficient. If the situation of no network arises, then there is no fear of losing the data since the device has a capacity to store data. In addition to all of this, the device has a built in three- axis accelerometer which enables the system to enter sleep mode and save battery power. The device reactivates itself once it detects the movement of the trailers.

The signal from the GPS is send every 15 minutes which is set by default and the data gets uploaded every two hours or when the vehicle stops operation. The data transfer period option can be configured based on the fleet and type of transport.

Goodyear says that the customers will have access to detailed mileage reports and routing data from the fleet tracker application. The reports can be customizable and a history can be followed to help the fleet operation to reach its optimum performance with the help of a dashboard seen on mobile and web applications.
