Formula 1 Plans To Change The Tyre Compound Choices

The plan to change the tyre compound choices between the Silverstone double-header was initiated by Formula one.

As mentioned last week by Formula 1 managing director of motorsport Ross Brawn, they hope that the change in the combination of the three compounds between two weekends at the same venue will force the teams to do more time at the second event and add some new strategies into the race.

After the options were explored, it was finally decided not to make a change for the first-Double header in Austria. However, a change is set to happen at Silverstone, with the C1, C2 and C3 combination used in the previous year in the British Grand Prix. This will be followed by a change to softer range of tyres with the C2, C3 and C4 for the 70th Anniversary event.

A change to the tyre compounds was made for the Belgian Grand Prix in which the C1, C2 and C3 used in the previous year was changed to C2 C3 and C4. The Austrian Races will initiate the usage of C2, C3 and C4 combinations which was used in the 2019 Grand prix. The same will be applied for Hungary and Italy. Spain will remain with the C1, C2 and C3 Used last year

Pirelli F1 boss Mario Isola said: "With so many variables at the start of this delayed season, and a flexible calendar that doesn't leave much time to react to changing circumstances, it was agreed with the teams, the promoter and the FIA to announce the compound nominations for the first eight races this year all together."

The Formula one teams will have to create a strategy to sustain their race cars from losing time and performance. The teams will have to conduct an analysis about the tyres to find out which are the weak points and how they can use these compounds to their advantage to win the races.
