"Every Man's Dream" - GSX-RR With Michelin Slicks Showcased At The Auto Expo

Suzuki India was the only major two-wheeler manufacturer that was present at the Auto Expo, 2020. While Suzuki's stall did not feature any new launches or specific unveils that would eventually make it to Indian roads, the stall did make up for the lack of oomph by displaying the two bikes in Suzuki's motorcycle war chest that can make any man go weak in the knees -- the Suzuki GSX-RR and the Suzuki Katana.

While the Katana looked completely ravishing, as a MotoGP fan myself I simply wasn't able to take my eyes off the GSX-RR. A mouthwatering piece of machinery or shall I say "art" displayed in the heart of India at the Auto Expo.

GSX-RR

The GSX-RR is the MotoGP prototype from Suzuki that has been utilized for representing Suzuki in the holy grail of 1,000 cc motorcycle racing -- "the MotoGP." The bike was officially introduced on 30th September 2014 as a replacement for the GSV-R.

The GSX-RR on display was the 2019 GSX-RR, however, not the exact race ready bike that Alex Rins and rookie Joan Mir rode on. The bike also sported the 17-inch marvels both in the front and the rear in the form of the Michelin MotoGP racing slicks. Its unbelievable how just an inch of contact from these tyres can support the monster of a bike leaning at more than 60 degrees!

The Bike has a water-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC 4 Valve, inline-four engine that is capable of producing 227 hp of power that allows it to go as fast as 380 kilometeres per hour! And the best part of the machine? As big and powerful as it looks, it weighs only a miniscule 157 kgs (wet!). That means its essentially a 1000cc bike that weighs only a few kgs heavier than the Indian R15 V3!

The 2019 GSX-RR on display had undergone some minor changes as compared to the 2018 version. The bike had a fatter tail section, different front brake calipers, the front suspension was also different while the footpegs were placed higher. New graphics were used as well with bolder yellow and gray stripes on the upper fairing, extending to the fuel tank.

The MotoGP prototype was a real spectacle for the Auto Expo crowd including being the main attraction of the Suzuki stall. Lets hope other companies like Ducati, KTM, Honda as well as Yamaha and Aprilia join the party in the next Auto Expo and unveil their MotoGP prototypes in India.
