In a recent test of seven different trail bike tyres, Austrian journal Motorrad Magazin lauded Dunlop Trailmax Meridian's on-road performance, stressing its combination of grip and comfort.Motorrad Magazin evaluated adventure tyres from seven different manufacturers on a KTM 890 Adventure as part of the ‘Lust auf Schotter?' feature in the 5/2021 issue 1. To recreate the vast range of applications a rider expects from tyres like the Dunlop Trailmax Meridian, the test included three different environments: asphalt, "regular offroad," and "severe offroad."
Trailmax Meridian, which was introduced last year features all-new compounds and Multi-Tread technology. It is Dunlop's creative new product in the Adventure and Trail market. It's made for high-performance adventure bikes like the KTM 890 Adventure, which was tested by Motorrad Magazin.
Trailmax Meridian outperformed its competition in all five on-road performance categories assessed by the magazine: uphill grip, handling, straight-line stability, cornering stability, and damping. It was the only tyre tested by Luca Grünwald that received an 8/10 in all of these areas.
According to the test report, “The Dunlop is our clear asphalt emperor in our test. Grip, self-damping and stability are at the level of a road tyre and on gravel the Meridian is among the other asphalt-orientated tyres… Those who primarily ride on the road have plenty of grip and still the highest comfort with Trailmax Meridian.”
