The Bugatti Chiron is one of the world's fastest production vehicles. Michelin which is one of the famous tyre manufacturing company in the world has created the unique set of tyres for the Chiron named Pilot Sport Cup 2 which has helped the car in reaching record breaking verified and legit speed of 484 km/h.
The record breaking moment was achieved at the Bugatti's Lessien test track in north Germany and the car was driven by Bugatti's test driver Andy Wallace.
The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres has a 'BG' marking which means that the tyre can only be fitted to the Bugatti. The tyres are similar to the regular original equipment tyres. However, the major difference between the normal tyres and the tyres used on the Bugatti are it's casing belts which are reinforced to withstand the 5,300g.

During the development of the tyres for Bugatti, the company used specialist machinery at the technology center in Ladoux, France and in Charlotte SC USA. To test the tyres which will reach high speeds, Michelin used a test machine which was designed to test the tyres of space shuttles that reaches 510km/h.
Pierre Chandezon, Bugatti tyre design team leader at Michelin says that
Michelin has been proud to become a involved as a major part in this record breaking journey. It is the connection and understanding nature which made both the companies applaud each other for their efforts which slowly led to the development of a relationship between the two giants for almost 20 years now.
He further added that the trust built up over the past 20 years is what gave Bugatti the confidence to consider Michelin as the sole developer of original equipment tyres for the Chiron.
For the creation of this unique machine that Bugatti has offered to the people of the world, Michelin and Bugatti engineers have collaborated and have become an integral part in the development of the tyres and the chassis. Both the manufacturers have used cutting edge elements and technology in spawning of this beast named Chiron.
In addition to the Capabilities of the Chiron to reach high speed with stability, the tyres also provide the comfort that is necessary for a supercar which every Bugatti Customer expects.
