Continental Combines Its Global Activities Into A Special unit

Continental tyres consider to combine its worldwide activities into the special purpose tyre segment. The business segments of commercial specialty tyres, Hoosier racing, two-wheeler tyres are combined into a new specialty tyres unit for business. The plan is to combine different sectors such as the bicycle and motorcycle tyres, racing tyres, material management sector etc into one single unit which will develop, manufacture and distribute worldwide.

Wolfgang Thomale, has been leading the 'Commercial Specialty tyres' unit of business since 1st of July and is responsible for the formation of the new business unit. The new unit consists of the two-wheeler tyres segment under the leadership of Thomas Falke and racing tyres under the control of Joerg Burfien.

The new role that has been taken up by Thomale requires him to report directly to Christian Kötz who is a member of the Executive Board of Continental AG.

Christian Kötz said that the new business unit has made them follow the path that they embarked on to constantly align all the business activities in the tyre sector with the customer.
He further added that the company is merging niche segments with highly specialized requirements of the customers in order to develop services and solutions which are flexible in nature to gradually expand the product range considering the interests of the customers.

Wolfgang Thomale worked at continental for almost 30 years now and he has taken up various positions, most recently he took position as the head of PLT Channel Management Retail and Region Central Europe.

The purpose of the Special Business Unit Principles of the company AG is to further create a responsible management of the Company and the Continental Corporation focuses on value creation.
