CEAT Tyres Partners With Three Unions To Sanitize Trucks

CEAT Tyres will partner with three transport associations to sanitize trucks that will be delivering essential goods to areas in and around Mumbai.

The company has inked an agreement with three associations namely the All India Truck Worker's Association, Bombay Goods & Transport Association and Western Union LPG Association for this purpose.

The sanitisation process will take place at three points namely Nhavasheva, Mahul, Jasai and some areas around the airport, which are key entry/exit points of vehicles that bring goods to the city, the company said.

According to the release, the drive, being carried out under the leadership of RPG Foundation, will include sanitization of the truck cabin, distribution of face masks, sanitizers and food packets to the drivers and cleaners.

The sanitisation exercise, the company said, is aimed at ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the truck drivers who continue to work amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The drive could also play a big role in a containing the spread of the novel coronavirus in the trucking community as well as in Mumbai.

The company said that it plans to cover 1,000 trucks by April 19, adding that the exercise has already covered over 800 trucks so far.

In addition to the sanitisation drive, CEAT said that it has also initiated voluntary distribution of food packets across India to the needy.

It said that it has distributed more than 68,500 food packets in several cities across India, including Nashik, Mumbai, Vadodara, Chennai, Jabalpur, and Jaipur, adding that roughly 5,800 freshly cooked food packets are being distributed on a daily basis.

The company said that the RPG Foundation is proud of its "Covid -19 Warriors" who are relentlessly working towards a common goal of ensuring safety and well-being of the general population.

The "Covid-19 Warriors" in question are employees of the RPG Group who have been distributing food and masks across the plant and corporate office regions with the help of the company, and at times at their own expense. Some of the employees of the RPG Foundation have even conducted programs to increase awareness about precautionary measures that can be taken to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Mr Arnab Banerjee, the Chief Operating Officer at CEAT Tyres Ltd said, "CEAT Tyres along with RPG Foundation and other relevant authorities has undertaken various tasks with a commitment towards helping the society in every possible manner to fight this pandemic. The sanitisation drive, distribution of food packets and deployment of our ever ready COVID-19 Warriors are all initiatives that are aimed at providing essential care during these unprecedented times."
