Birla Carbon Signs A Long Term Agreement With Circtec

Birla, a global leader of carbon black, has signed a long-term supply agreement with Circtec, a leader of pyrolytic technology- the production of renewable fuel from end-of-life rubber tyre, which creates the largest sustainability footprints for black carbon industries. Birla Carbon brings this sustainable solution to the world's customers with its technical expertise, customised solutions and global presence. This is in line with the leadership position of Birla Carbon in sustainability and innovation during the past 10 years.

Circtec has developed commercially its proprietary production processes over more than a decade and is now setting up a flagship production plant in the Netherlands to support that landmark circular economy partnership. This will be Europe's largest, most sustainable and most efficient pyrolysis plant and will be developed by the end of 2022. In the next five years, the plant will have an annual total production capacity of 73,000 tonnes, while it is putting millions of tyres through the process of pyrolysis recycling.

Commenting on the association, Dr. Santrupt B. Misra, Chief Executive Officer, Birla Carbon, said, “Our commitment to sustainability over the last decade has seen Birla Carbon bring more and more innovation-focused solutions to our customers. This partnership with Circtec is a big step towards product circularity in our value chain and bringing our customers’ sustainability aspirations closer to reality.” He further added, “Through our collaboration with Circtec, we will become the largest suppliers of Sustainable Carbonaceous Materials in the world, weaving together technology expertise and customized solutions”.

Commenting on the partnership with Birla Carbon, Allen Timpany, co-founder and CEO of Circtec, shared, “Our long-term alliance with Birla Carbon is instrumental to our objective to build a leading global business in the low-carbon circular economy.”

Robert Harper, co-founder and Deputy CEO said “We look forward to working on our partnered mission of creating a more circular world using our leadership in innovation and technology to create sustainable products from end-of-life tyres.”
