Apollo Tyres announced on Tuesday that it has suspended production at its plants till 31st March due to the lock down implemented in many states to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
"The operations at our plants in the states of Kerala (at Kalamassery and Perambra), Gujarat (Limda) and Tamil Nadu (Chennai) are shut down till March 31, 2020," the company said in a regulatory filing.
The company further added that it has asked its employees and other staff in various offices to work from home.

The expected financial impact of the above is not ascertainable at this stage and the duration of this shutdown will depend upon directives to be further issued by the respective government authorities in this regard, it said.
Another manufacturer, CEAT also said that it has suspended manufacturing operations in India till such regulatory advisories prevail.
Just last week, SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) and ACMA (Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India) had requested all vehicle manufacturers and component makers to consider plant shutdown in order to limit the rapid spread of coronavirus.
In a statement, SIAM president Rajan Wadhera had said: “With a view to deteriorating situation arising out of COVID-19, SIAM and ACMA have both requested their members in OEMs and auto component industry to consider plant shutdown for a limited period to overcome the critical period so that workers are not exposed to the virus. This is in line with SIAM’s motto of building the nation responsibly.”
In a statement, CEAT further underscored that the company is taking all recommended precautions and preventive measures to prioritize the health and safety of its employees and contain the spread of coronavirus, including implementation of the work from home policy for all its offices.
