Kumho, tyre manufacturing company's e-NIMF and e-TOPS tyres have bagged the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2020. The manufacturer has achieved the iF and Red Dot awards in the month of February and March respectively.
The manufacturer is proud to showcase the world's biggest design awards that was collected in the same year.
Kumhoe-NIMF
The e-NIMF is an eco-friendly and maintenance-free tyre. The tyres are non-pneumatic which means that they are airless concept tyre. Kumho mentioned that the tyre offers supreme driving stability which is better than the conventional tyres which are pneumatic. The tyre will not suffer from periodic deflation like its conventional counter-part, the e-NIMF has replacement treads hence there is no need for discarding this tyre.
The tyre does not require any extreme maintenance cost when compared to the conventional tyres. Countless tests and simulations regarding the materials needed for construction and manufacturing methods of the tyre’s spokes, durability, noise emission, vibrations and rolling resistance are similar to that of pneumatic tyres.
Kumhoe-TOPS
The e-TOPS tyre is a hybrid tyre that consists of the combined ability of pneumatic and airless tyres. The e-TOPS airless tyres have an upper structure of spokes and tread which functions as a protection for the tyre from matters such as debris and sharp objects. The lower section contains a certain amount of air which the company says - "is not vulnerable". In simple the tyres function exactly like pneumatic/ conventional tyres but provides better performance and lower maintenance costs than the modern day pneumatic tyres.
