Why The Retreading Of Car Tyres Is Not Suitable

Tyre retreading has been a well-known alternative to new tyres. The retreading process is efficient, cost-effective and environment-friendly all at the same time. Retreaded tyres are deemed to be as good as new. But this statement is only true for commercial tyres or tyres for heavy-duty vehicles.

Passenger tyres are different and are used in different manners. They are supposed to have the best safety, stability, comfort and grip levels to attain customer's satisfaction. Today, we will be telling you why retreading is not preferred for passenger car tyres.

We love to drive our cars fast on highways and with immense enthusiasm on the corners. To do all that fun, we need capable and supportive tyres which could bear all the pressure we throw at them.

Passenger car tyres are designed to take the load, used at high speed, delivering great comfort, fuel efficiency and the endurance to cope up the long term usability.

Tyre retreading is a process of scrapping the old worn-out tread and adding a new layer of tread rubber on the outer surface of the tyre while retaining the inner core structure intact. This helps to recycle tyres more effectively while also keeping the cost factor in place.

Why Retreading of car tyres is not suitable?

Well, the answer depends on various conditions and the process by which you have got your tyre's retreading done. Retreading is only recommended to be done from official OEM workshops or some known brands. In India, we have some unethical roadside retreading alternatives which can be atrocious as a result.

A new tyre is meticulously engineered and manufactured from the ground up, retreading can't give the same level of assurance when compared to a brand new tyre rolled out from the factory. After all the new is better than old, right?

As we said earlier, a new layer of tread stuck to an old tyre leaves doubt on its endurance and long term reliability. Our cars are driven at high speed on highways and our tyres should be safe to behold the heat and pressure.

Another problem with tyre retreading is inconsistency. A lot of users who have tried retreading on their car tyres have a complaint about the wheel balancing and alignment issues which are impossible to fix if the retreading process hasn't done correctly.

For instance, if you have retreaded your car's front tyres, after a certain time, you may start to face wheel alignment and balancing issues regularly. This indicates your retreading hasn’t done with full precision and eventually is merely impossible to get your alignment and balancing fixed.

And if you aren’t aware of the pre-existing balancing issues of your retreaded tyres, they can harm your car’s suspension and steering components in the long run.

Should you retread tyres of your car?

Well, in today's day and age where tyres have become very accessible and affordable. It just doesn't make sense to get your tyres retreaded. The process takes time and might have quality and safety issues and they are no more affordable. So why don't sit back with new tyres hassle-free rather than dig into the sceptical process of retreading!
