More about the Carnival

Kia Carnival

The Kia Carnival is a premium class MPV (Multi purpose Vehicle) that comes as a more luxurious and feature rich alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Talking about the design, the Carnival gets a tiger nose grille at the front with LED Projection headlamps and LED DRLs that gives it a bold look while the rest of the vehicle gets a fairly subtle design. From the sides, the van looks a bit boxy while the back is fairly quiet despite the added bit of oomph due to the LED taillights. Overall, the van boasts of a massive road presence owing to its bulkiness and oozes elegance in terms of its finish and interiors.

The car will be available in three variants - Premium, Prestige and Limousine (7 seater only). Number of seats can also vary for each variant but the range topping Limousine will come in only a 7 seater ( 2+2+3) option. KIA commented that about 64 per cent of the bookings that have been received since they were opened are for the top end Limousine variant with the captain seats in the second row.

The bulkiness that you see on the outside gets translated into ample space on the inside. The "luxury" tag of the car gets represented by its endless premium features inside. The seats, for example, will be upholstered in Nappa leather. Furthermore, the car will also sport a dual-panel electric sunroof, 10.1-inch entertainment screens for the rear passengers, a laptop charging point, powered tailgate, one-touch powered sliding doors, and UVO connected tech.

Also within the cabin are features like the Harman Kardon sound system with eight speakers, air purifier, tri-zone auto AC, auto defog windscreen, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and front and rear parking sensors. The feature-list also includes electronic parking brake, power-sliding rear doors and smart power tailgate.

The Kia Carnival gets its juice from the 2.2-litre VGT BS6 diesel engine tuned for 197 bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque, which is paired with the 8-speed sportmatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

The luxury MPV, which is scheduled to be launched in India at the Auto Expo 2020, can be booked either through the carmaker's official website or its dealerships on payment of a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Expectations are that Kia Carnival will be priced around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
