  • Altroz comes in two tyre sizes depending on the fuel type
  • Spare wheel in the Altroz is a space saver one
  • OEM for tyres are MRF and Goodyear

Tata Motors' entry ticket into the world of premium hatchbacks comes in the form of the much awaited Altroz. Bookings opened up earlier this month and commercial launch is slated for January 2020. So if you are planning to buy one and need to know all about Tata Altroz Tyres, you are at the right place! Read on to know more....

The Tata Altroz is offered with a choice of two engine options and both of these are offered with different tyre sizes. For example, while the higher versions (XT / XZ / XZ (O)) of the petrol Altroz come with a tyre size of 195/55 R16, the top end trims of the diesel (XT / ZX) get slightly narrower ones with a taller side wall. The exact size is 185/60 R16 and this is done to compensate for the heavier engine and hence better absorption abilities.

Tata Altroz petrol tyre size:

In terms of the tyre model, the higher versions of the petrol Altroz come with MRF ZVTV tyres with a load index of 87 which means the tyre is designed to hold a maximum load of 545 kgs. It has a speed rating of H which means the tyres are safe for speeds of upto 210 km/h.

The lower trims of XE and XM get narrower 165/80 R14 tyres. Though we aren't sure yet, we believe these will be the Bridgestone Ecopia EP150s with a load index of 85 (good for upto 510 kgs) and a speed rating of T - good for upto 190 km/h.

Tata Altroz Diesel Tyre Size:

The higher versions of the diesel Altroz on the other hand come with Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 with a slightly lower load index of 86 (as compared to top end petrol trims) but a similar speed rating of H. This means these Tata Altroz tyres are designed to carry a max load of 530 kgs and is safe to be used at speeds of upto 210 km/h.

The lower versions (XE / XM) of the diesel Atroz get similar tyres to that of the lower versions of the petrol Altroz.

Tata Altroz Spare Wheel Size:

Interestingly, the spare wheel of the Tata Altroz is a space saver one and comes with a size of 165/80 R14. It is supplied by Bridgestone and the brand name is Ecopia EP150. As a spare wheel is hardly used ever, it understandably comes with a lower load index and speed ratings. The printed figure of 85 T means the tyre can hold upto 510 kg and is safe to be used at speeds of upto 190 km/h. Do note that even for the top spec versions that get alloy wheels, the spare wheel is a steel rim for cost saving measures.
