Maxxis India takes Sustainable Water Conservation Measures

The Manufacturing process to produce any product requires water so does the tyre industry. It takes 147,631 liters of water to produce one new car which includes its tyres. Tyre industries are trying their best to conserve water in their manufacturing units.

Maxxis tyres from Taiwan has its 106-acre manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat India. They are trying their best to conserve water and create sustainability.

Maxxi Tyres says that they are conscious about the environment and as a conscious brand, the company focuses on conserving the environment and are trying their best to work towards the Government's initiative -'Jal Shakti Abhiyan' which when translated to English means "water energy Movement."

The company achieves their target of conserving water through the use of water harvesting, reuse of water, renovation of water bodies, utilizing water recharging structures and by afforestation.

The plant makes use of wastewater treatment which recycles and reuses the water thereby conserving water without intake of fresh water.
The unique peripheral trench collects rainwater into the ground through 22 recharge stations.

Maxxis rubber India claims that its Sanand facility has one of the best water conserving methods in India. The plant has Effluent treatment plant (ETP) as well as Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) which has resulted in the facility receiving the status of Zero Liquid Discharge' Unit. This means that the plant discharges no liquid effluent into the surface water which eliminates water pollution.

The company says that the trench located nearby each building collects maximum rainwater from the roofs and the surface water is collected in the Peripheral trench which has a capacity about 12,600 cubic meters and can store at a single time.

Maxxis India recycles around 2,000 cubic meters of water every month. The residual water is used for watering plantation and cleaning. The company says that it has been assessing the environmental impact of the activities that it conducts, products produced and services. It focuses on reducing or eliminating the impact through the establishment of appropriate measures.

On an average, the Sanand plant of the company saves about 60 to 70 liters of water with the entire product manufacturing cycle initiated on a daily basis.

The Sanand Plant is also ISO 14001:2015 certified facility claiming it to audited by a thrid-party accredited by Management system certification. The company claims that its gets reviewed annually by an independent auditor to ensure all the norms are being met.

The plant is designed to meet global safety standards and conserve non-renewable resources. It also has a fully functional health center.
