JK Tyre Partially Resumes Operations In India

Indian tyre major and radial tyre pioneer, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, announced a partial resumption of its operations on Saturday.

The company said that it has resumed operations at some of its plants in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and permissions granted by the respective state governments and local authorities.

The company stated in a release that it has commenced production in a graded manner at its manufacturing facilities in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Kankroli (Rajasthan) and Laksar (through Cavendish industries Ltd.- subsidiary company,  in Uttarakhand). In addition, work has also resumed at its global Research & Development hub, the Raghupati Singhania Centre of Excellence that is located in Mysore, Karnataka.

JK said that its remaining manufacturing plants in India and Mexico are in preparatory mode and will resume operations subsequently.

The company said that it would make sure that the facilities function with "restricted manpower" and "stringent precautionary measures" are in place in order to make sure that there is no compromise on employee safety and well-being.

It underscored that only essential staff will be allowed to the listed facilities while the remaining employees that work in across their corporate offices, sales offices or other plants will continue to work from home until further notice.

The company explained that it has always kept the safety and wellbeing of its employees at the core of its resumption roadmap. It said that a "detailed SOP Manual" has already been prepared and sent to the company's employees and supply chain partners well before the commencement of operations takes place.

While we recommence our manufacturing operations, we are placing the safety and well-being of our employees and communities, which are the prime importance of our resumption plan. We have worked out a thorough and stringent roadmap that is not only aligned with the protocols of the authorities, but goes a step further in ensuring access to safe workplace. We are optimistic that the economy and business ecosystem will gradually proceed towards recovery in the coming months."
