The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is partnering with energy supplier Enovos to create two big solar power stations at its testing facilities in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, as part of its commitment to reduce CO2 emissions. These solar power stations will supply sustainable energy to Luxembourg citizens.
In the presence of Claude Turmes, Minister of Energy and Land Management, the first power station, which has now been finished, was opened at Goodyear's testing facility.
This photovoltaic carport, with 1,500 solar panels and a parking space of roughly 4,000 m2, is the first of its kind in Luxembourg. The carport will generate enough energy to power more than 170 families with its annual production of 657,500 kWh.
The second station is expected to be completed in 2022. When completed, both stations will create roughly 5 GWh of electric power each year, reducing carbon emissions by around 50,000 tonnes over the next 20 years and supplying clean energy to over 1,300 families.
